"It has been 5 years since i graduated in computer science. The month is October and the year is 2018, a life changing moment is about to happen. It was getting late and I had work the next morning. My friend rings me and tells me that there is a studio session going down and he wants me to come." This was the moment that changed my life forever. I saw the studio and all the gear that came with it. My inner tech nerd fell in love with music at first sight. On my journey so far i have attempted to create various styles. It all started with "surprise surprise" trap beats! we then tested out some OVO PND vibes and caught the Majid Jordan vibe which lead me down a whole different story of how i fell in love with house music. That's a blog article for another day ;). My favourite producer is Noah "40" Shebib. The concept of making an original sound through pure engineering is genius. After experimenting and studying the basics of Hip Hop/Trap drum patterns, House grooves and RNB chord theory, my musical journey took me to a place I had never expected...The Middle East. The dominant phrygian scale was exposed to my musical soul in all its glory. The penny had dropped and my desire to learn about eastern musical history grew. One of the main reasons I would say so is because not only was the sound a different flavour of music, but the fact that i had learnt that it shared similarities with Spanish Flamenco music had blew my mind! As the months went by I had tried recreating various genres such as RNB/Hip Hop/UK Afro/House and even the occasional attempt at advert scoring. Why am i telling you this? Because i want you, whoever you are reading this, to understand the intention of the sounds i was inspired by in order to make UMR a sound of my own.
